FAQs

How do I order?

Start by contacting me to discuss what you are after.  Email me through the contact page on this website or message me on my Facebook page.

What materials are used?

For my drawings, only professional pencils are used to ensure the colour stays true.  The board used is acid free, archival quality, as are the mounting boards.

For my paintings, I use non-toxic acrylic paint on board or canvas, depending on your needs. I then place a matt clear coat on top to protect your painting.

How long does it take to get a portrait completed?

From the time of receiving your order and deposit, it is usually a few weeks to the final proof.

How do I pay

After an image is agreed upon, I will email an invoice to you.  You have the choice to pay via Paypal or direct bank transfer.  A 10% non-refundable deposit is required, and once received, I will start your artwork.

Do I get to see the portrait before final payment?

Once the painting or drawing is almost finished, I will email an image of it to you.  If you are happy with it, I will finish it and request final payment.  Once finished and paid, it will be posted to you, or the person you are gifting the artwork to. If you don’t want to see the finished image and just want to receive the artwork as a surprise, that is fine too.

How do I explain what I want?

Let me know whether your pet is still with your family, or has crossed the rainbow bridge, whether the portrait is a gift to yourself, a friend or a loved one. All information about your pet’s personality also helps with the final product.  I love to find out what makes your pet unique and will take creative requests, such as a favourite toy in the portrait, to make it more meaningful for you.

How do I chose an image?

For the best portraits, you should start with a great photo with high definition. I prefer to have a few photos that I can view, from different angles, to help me understand your pet’s personality. If you can’t decide on which photo, I can assist with your choice.

Remember, when choosing or taking a photo, consider the following:

Good lighting – a soft natural light with give an even light with fewer odd shadows.  Try to avoid the flash or direct sunlight as it can create harsh shadows.

Angle – your camera angle should be at the same level as your pet’s chest.

Full Body shots – remember to get the paws in the photo!

What if I don’t like the painting or drawing?

I haven’t had this happen yet! Once I send you the final image by email, if you are not happy with it, you will not need to make final payment.  The non-refundable 10% deposit will be kept by me to help cover materials used.
